Developing Work Ability Recovery Score for Injured Workers
Choi Keun-Ho

Kim Gun-Woo
Abstract
This study aims to develop a work ability recovery score which presents the severity of injured workers for offering them customized medical treatments and rehabilitation services. To thid end, this study developed a work ability recovery score(WARS) which is a type of the severity score specialized for the injured workers by adapting the ICISS which has been used widely in medical domains and by using data from the Korea workers compensation and welfare services. Experimental results show that the proposed work ability recovery score yields the accuracy of 60% to 75.9%. We expect that the proposed score would be utilized in various ways such as improving the understanding of the state of injured workers, offering the baseline data for a medical treatment and a consultation, suggesting the criterion of selecting patients for rehabilitation services, protecting the rights of the patients via finding dormant insurance benefits, enabling effective resources allocation, and identifying suspicious patients who might be frauds.
